Default specular value with imported textures

Hi @laikalr @Xtov

We completely hear you, and your frustration is entirely valid. Editing 300 terrain tiles manually one by one is an exhausting bottleneck, and I truly apologize for the friction this is causing in your workflow. When you switch to a tool, you expect it to speed up your process, not slow it down with repetitive tasks.

To give you full transparency on where things stand:

  • Changing the global default specular value isn’t as simple as switching it to 0. While 0 works best for SketchUp terrain and site workflows like yours, a significant portion of the community relies on 0.3 for their setups.
  • Automatically shifting this default across the board would disrupt established materials and render outputs for existing projects across the community.

That said, we recognize that leaving you to fix hundreds of imported meshes manually is not an acceptable solution.

  • Instead of forcing a single default value on everyone, our development team is building a feature that opens up the material parameter interface for batch adjustments.

  • This will allow you to select and modify material properties across hundreds of meshes at once automatically.

  • This automated batch-adjustment capability is currently targeted for our next major update. We know this has been a long-standing request, and we are actively working to get this into your hands so you don’t have to waste time on repetitive manual fixes.

Thank you for being open about your experience and keeping us accountable.
