Default setup for new scenes

Everytime I create a new scene it comes with a resolution of 1820x840, channels off, .png format.

I want to setup a defaul custon resolution, channels and .exr but could not find a way to do so. Is it possible?

By the way, setting up scenes is a mess in D5, It takes too much time, you need to keep going back to previous scenes to avoid mistakes after some changes. The apply to all doesn’t work in most cases because it makes everything the same.

Hi @alexandrecollaco

Changing the default settings is still not possible in D5 Render; changing the default Custom Resolution, Channels, etc. may still need to be done manually. Nevertheless, we may consider this feature in subsequent releases.

Can you elaborate further on this statement, “The apply to all doesn’t work in most cases because it makes everything the same.”? Attaching a video link of this issue would really help us pinpoint the problem and make necessary improvements in the future.

  • The “Apply To All” applies the settings to all of the scenes; otherwise, you can switch to “Save Separately”.

“Apply to all” as it is designed doesn’t work in complex projects because it makes everything the same all the time and it is never the case in complex projects.
If you turn off “Apply to all” it just goes back to the previous setup. Also, if you click to update each scene one by one with “Apply to all” turned on it will apply everything to everyscene, even things you don’t want to change.

For me what would bea use case for the “apply to all” or something symilar as I think it should work.
Imagine you want to turn off clipping planes on all views, setup render resolution, camera fov or adjust some effect like exposure but only these things. You turn on “apply to all”, make the changes, turn off “Apply to all” and it is done, everything setup at once, quick and easy.

About the defaul setup for resolution, fov,…
When you are navigating with the image setting on
image
you can setup screen resolution, FOV, format,… in the bar bellow

but this is useless because when you click to add a new scene it will ignore this setup and do wathever it is its default. Really unpractical.

Hi @alexandrecollaco

If you turn off “Apply to all” it just goes back to the previous setup. Also, if you click to update each scene one by one with “Apply to all” turned on it will apply everything to every scene, even things you don’t want to change.

The purpose “Apply to All” applies the Effect, Environmental, etc. settings to all of the scenes. This is exactly how Apply to All behaves currently. Although there is an exception on the Section Tool, which is evident throughout all scenes, it will be optimized in future releases.

As for your other feedback regarding the image render settings, we will forward your feedback further.

For now, there is no option to modify the default settings and creating a new scene will have you set these settings manually. But if you wish to speed up the process, you can use the Batch Image Setting option in Render Queue.

Note: FOV setting is unavailable on this portion, but FOV settings are retained in Scene Update.
