D5 Render and Sketchup/Chaos Cosmos

Good morning.

I’d like to know if there’s a way to use Chaos Cosmos 3D models, which are usually “proxy” models. That is, when working in sync with Sketchup Pro + D5 Render.

Being a proxy, the program usually detects them without any materials.

Is there a way to load them into D5 Render with all their materials and settings?

Thank you.

Hi @jj.rendering3d

Have you attempted using the LiveSync plugin? Many 3ds Max users have successfully imported assets into D5 Render using this method but I’m not very much certain when it comes to SketchUp.

Also, please be aware that our support is limited to such assets.

Good Morning!

Unfortunately, I see that it’s not working. That is, when I load the 3D model from the Chaos Cosmos library into my Sketchup model, using LiveSync (which is the mode I always use), it recognizes the geometry, but it’s missing the materials.

Of course, you could edit that 3D model and add D5 materials, but it would be great if it could support the Chaos Cosmos library and read the materials, or if there’s some way to get it to detect them.

As I mentioned previously, I understand that the Chaos Cosmos library has all its 3D models in PROXY format, for greater speed and efficiency.

Greetings!

Hi @jj.rendering3d

Thank you for your update. Although we are not currently planning to support this workflow, given our focus on the D5 asset library, we are open to exploring proxy formats in future releases. We value your input on this matter. Thank you.
