D5 Minimalist Living Room File

Hello. I installed d5 for the first time today.
I downloaded the sample scene like the attached image.
I want to open this file and study, where was it saved? I’m a 3ds max user, do I have to open 3ds max and open the d5 render to see this file?

Hi, @valentineeeee
Instead of opening 3ds Max, you can simply double-click the sample scene as shown in the image to open the file.

Hi @valentineeeee,

Welcome to D5!
All demo scenes you have downloaded will be saved in D5 Workspace. You can simply double-click the scene on welcome page or find and open the drs. file inside the folder.

Thank you! But I’m curious, I’m automatically assigned to driver F.
Do I need to move to a driver with ssd to get faster work?

Thank you! i did’t know.

Using an SSD will definitely be a lot faster than a mechanical hard drive.

The D5 Workspace folder is automatically designated as the F driver,
should I move the D5 Workspace folder to the ssd driver?
I’m not sure what’s stored in the D5 Workspace folder yet.
For example, 3ds max autobackup is stored here?

Hi!
I’m also curious. D5 Workspace is generally assigned to driver D. Online assets, local resources and temporary files will be saved here, and we recommend not changing the save path and file name in the folder. Saving to a local path will be more beneficial to your work.
If your d-drive has enough memory and is working well, you might consider migrating the entire workspace to the D-drive. In Preference settings here.

Are solid state drives better than mechanical hard drives?

Hello @sitecui,

Thank you for reaching out. SSDs store data in flash memory, while HDDs store data in magnetic disks. SSDs are a newer technology that uses silicon’s physical and chemical properties to offer more storage volume, speed, and efficiency. However, HDDs are a cost-efficient option if you require infrequent data access in blocks of 1 MB or more at a time.

In summary, SSDs are the way to go if you prioritize speed and reliability, but HDDs are a suitable choice if you are on a tight budget.

Thank you.
