D5 Loosing Assigned Materials After Reloading The Model

My work flow is exporting a BricsCAD (DWG file) model to a DAE file and importing the DAE file into D5. This works quite well except when I reload the model the D5 materials are lost. I tried changing the names of the D5 materials to the same name of the materials in the model and saving the renamed materials locally but this didn’t work. It’s very time consuming to re-assign materials every time after reloading. Please help!

Hi @aadig

I am unable to test this with BricsCAD since I don’t have the software, but I ran some tests importing the .dae file into D5 Render.

These are the process and the results on my end:

  • SKP > Export to .dae > Import to D5 > Assign a material in D5 > Reload > Materials are retained.

  • I currently have AutoCAD, but it does not support converting the DWG file to .dae; this issue might be related to how it is being converted in BricsCAD, since we currently do not have full support with them.

  • Anyway, can you share to us your DAE file? And include a video recording of the process on your end?
