D5 creates an insane number of folders in the project folder, exceeding 100 thousand in item count, crashing google drive

Hi, I am working on a project from a shared google drive, and the d5 project folder has tens of thousands of subfolders, each with one item under the d5a folder. Since shared google drives have an item limit of 500000 this becomes a problem, crashing the drive and therefore d5 as well. Is there any way of solving the issue without working from a local disk?

It might have to do with large d5a imports of surrounding landscapes but unsure.

Thank your for the help

Hi @22586053

I believe those files are the assets that were inserted. You can try zipping the file first, then uploading to your drive.

  • It’s also important to note that we highly don’t recommend placing the D5 File in your Drive Folder while working on it since it may encounter issues like materials being lost, etc. Having it in your local folder while you’re editing them is the best method for now.

Thank you for your reply
yeah after a bit more investigation I realized it is the assets. In the future I’ll work into local.

Alright, thanks for your update.
