Hi there,

I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. I may need to ask you few more questions regarding the issue you are experiencing:

  • Does this lag and crashing happen on a specific file? Or is it evident throughout all of your files?
  • Have you tried opening a Demo Scene File?

Can you please open the file that is causing the crash or perhaps a Demo Scene File then send us the following:

Hey, I know this is an old thread, but I’ve been experiencing lagging and freezing every time I change a scene in D5. At first I thought it was just the heavy file I was working on, but then it happened again with a new file.

Some days I get the scene freezing, some days not, but it’s always about a 15-second lag after clicking on the scene… which honestly was making the work inside D5 unbearable.

I then suspected it might be because I always kept my D5 files synced with Google Drive. Turns out, after saving on my desktop, the lagging stopped. I just discovered this and thought I’d share in case someone else is dealing with the same thing.

I’ll give it a few more days of testing, but hopefully, cloud syncing was the issue.

Is this a known issue @Clov ?

Thanks for the support as always!

Hi @oliver

We generally don’t recommend putting these files in your Cloud Storage, especially when you’re still editing or working with them. It’s best to store them locally while it is still in progress.

  • You can, however, store these files in your cloud storage for archiving purposes once they are completed. We recommend zipping them first to ensure integrity.
  • It’s not a bug but a limitation. There are plans to optimize this workflow in the subsequent release.
