D5 crashing after opening a big project

D5 crashes after loading a big project file. Could open the files until yesterday, and today D5 is now telling me my video card is out of memory, which is likely unusual, since I’m using a 3090 Ti with 24GB of memory and Windows is showing there is plenty of memory left. Furthermore I was able to render successfully before closing the project file yesterday. Any ideas?

Hi, I have a 2060 and since Friday (I believe) have the same issue, D5 crash every time some projects are open. Have to add that I’m importing quixel 3d models and textures.

I found the solution to this problem. You have to increase the allocated size for your page file under System/Advanced settings/Performance/Advanced/Virtual Memory. I deleted my pagefile under the main drive and assigned it to another drive. Somehow Windows deleted it completely which led to this error. After settings the page file again (please use enough GB) everything worked again. The error message D5 outputs is somehow misleading, but it’s basically referring to this (virtual memory not enough). Hope this helps.

Hello, thanks very much for sharing this solution, so it is related to not enough virtual memory, we will add this to our knowledge base :ok_hand:

Hello, sorry for the late reply, this problem happened only after 2.2 update? Could you please let us know the hardware information and whether the problem happens to a specific file?
If it is related to RAM, you can also try mbevilacqua’s solution to increase virtual RAM.
