I’m looking for an alternative to Blender. I create nighttime scenes of outdoor spaces, illuminated by specific lighting fixtures (path, flood, spot, etc.). The fixture is created in Fusion360, and I usually add the light element using Emission properties with an IES node in Blender. Then manipulate beam spread and color temp - resulting in an accurate depiction of the fixture’s properties. Can I do this in D-5? Is there a tutorial? Looking forward to becoming a part of this community.
Hi @rstellar
I’m not sure if this will satisfy what you’re looking for but recently in 2.11 version we have supported the following:
13. Added IES Lighting to Point Light and Area Lights with Support for IES Intensity
- Added IES controller to Point Light, Strip Light, Rect Light, and Disc Light. The loading method and controls are consistent with those for Spotlights.
- Added the “Apply IES Intensity” option which automatically reads and applies the brightness information from the IES file when enabled.
- Supports showing the IES light range indicator in the viewport.
-
Supports syncing IES profiles of Corona lights and Photometric lights using D5 LiveSync for 3ds Max.
-
And as for Blender, we recently updated the plug-in
