Create interior & exterior models separately then combine?

If we have one person on our team create the interior model and another create the exterior model, can we combine them once they’re both done?

I know that there is the team’s version where you can work on the same model, but I’m concerned that if one person is messing with lighting or HDRI’s it could be distracting for the person working on the interior scenes. Or do the models not update live when you work on them together?
