Considering D5 Render license

Hello,
Regarding D5 Render License, we have been testing and need to make decisions regarding buying(subscrybing) or not, I would thank you some answers:

  1. Testing D5 Render we find that online assets access tend to be very faulty. Sometimes they are available and a few seconds later they are not, seconds later again they show up again.
If we subscribe would we be able to download the assets library in order to not be dependent on this connection? We understand we can transfer materials to our local library but it seems that option is not available with models. We would probably didn’t need to transfer the whole library, but at least the models we use more.
  2. We feel in a subscription system users are supposed to pay regardless of the developer providing new assets/functions/upgrades, etc or not. And that is what is making us not upgrade Lumion. But in the case of Lumion if we don’t upgrade we still have a full older functional version with all the older libraries+libraries we have done and purchased elsewhere. That doesn’t seem to be the case here. We understand you used to have a perpetual pro license that changed to subscription only. We would prefer such an option (perpetual pro license) even if it would be just for version 2 (and not future versions). Can you recover that option?
  3. There seems to be some basic model categories totally missing in your library (kitchen faucets and appliances, for instance). Since we already have a big model libraries of our own. Is there a way we can create our own assets for D5 (d5a files) from our models?
  4. Why is not an Archicad 25 sync addon available yet?
  5. Maybe we have missed something but It seems that besides a very few objects that will work with path most objects cant be moved from one movie scene to the other, Is this so? For instance, it is not possible to make a door swing or slide during a movie. Is this correct?

I thank you for your time.

Hello concepsys,

Thank you for posting here.

  1. The behavior you described is when we open Assets Library, it will take a few seconds to load all thumbnails. Once a model is downloaded, it will be stored in a customizable local place and do not need to download again.
If you think the speed of loading thumbnails is very slow, please run this network tool and send the logs to me( ziyin.zhu@d5techs.com). We are collecting data and preparing to boost our servers worldwide.

  2. Sorry that we have ceased the sale of perpetual licenses, also changed the backstage database. In the meantime, Subscription model gives everyone a more flexible option to use the paid features. You won’t regret to upgrade it.

  3. Yes, you can import your models into D5 Render( skp, fbx, 3dm…), then export them as d5a, or save them in your local library. For reference, Action - User Manual (d5render.com)

  4. Our development team are working hard on this. Archicad25’s API changed a lot. Thank you for your patience.

  5. Yes, we can make object animations in video rendering. The feature is called Keyframe in D5 Render. Video - User Manual (d5render.com)

If you want to make a door swing or slide during a movie, you could try this workaround:
Import model with original pivot point - Ideas & Requests - D5 RENDER FORUM

And we will optimize our pivot in future, then it will be easier to make this kind of animation.

Have a nice day!

Regards,
Oliver
