Cesium - Crashing D5

I have been trying to test out Cesium before I look to purchase the commercial licence. With the model I’m testing it on, it’s fairly detailed and high quality, so a good representaiton of what I would usually use. I’m finding that it’s loading fine. Then after I’ve added in some section cuts, if I change from smooth viewport to precise, it freezer up my computer and crashes D5. I’m unsure if this is a VRAM issue. I have 3090 RTX AMD ryzen 9 5950X 16-Core 64GB RAM.
Any ideas?

Hi @henry1

Sorry for the inconvenience. To help narrow this down, could you please confirm the following:

  • Does this behavior occur with all projects, or only with this specific file?
  • Do you receive any error message or crash prompt, or does D5 close immediately?
  • Approximately how many section cuts are applied when the crash occurs?

Hello,

That’s alright!

So I’ve tested it this morning on another project and haven’t had the same behaviour.
No error messages, it just freezer up and then crashes.
It was doing it with just one section box.

Let me know what you want me to send over. I will update my driver and run another test this morning to see what happens.

Hi @ela any update on Cesium crashing when using secton cubes?

I am testing it out, and I’m still having problems.

Want to see if it’s just me or a known behaviour.

Thanks

Hi @henry1

Apologies for the inconvenience. So far, we haven’t received any other reports of Cesium crashing when using Section Cubes, so it may be specific to your setup.

Could you please share:

  1. Your D5 log files so we can check the crash details.
  2. A screenshot of your D5 system info

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to your response.

Hi @ela how do you want me to send the log files, can I just share a link here for you?

Hi @henry1

Please email it to support@d5techs.com, tag me, and include the link to this forum post for reference. Thank you!

All sent, thanks

Hi @ela Let me know once you’ve been able to take a look at this for me. The project I’m testing it on will be going live soon and I need to figure out if Cesium is going to do wha I need, so that I can then get the commercial licence to use it. Thanks

Hi @henry1

I’ve received your email and the log files—thanks for sending those over. I’ll submit this to the team for further investigation and keep you posted as soon as there’s an update on Cesium and its behavior in your project. Thanks again for your patience.
