Can't install D5 Lite

image

It says “The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.”

I tried uninstall and reinstall. but it doesn’t work

What can I do?

Hi @spencer.k527

This error prompt means Windows cannot read the installer file at D:\D5 WorkSpace\content\D5_Lite_SketchUp_1.7.0.0007.exe;the file itself is damaged. This is a file integrity issue during download, extraction, or storage, not a D5 Lite bug.

  • Were you able to confirm if you have the necessary permissions to install D5 Lite in this path?
  • Have you tried installing it in your C Drive?

If the issue persists even after trying to download it in other path, it may be hardware related.

Moving D5 WorkSpace to the C: drive allowed the installation to proceed.
However, I don’t think this is how it should work. It should work without any issues even when D5 WorkSpace is set to the D: drive.

Anyway, the issue is resolved for now! Thank you for your response.

Hi @spencer.k527

Correct, that’s not normal. Were you able to check if you have sufficient permissions in your D drive? Specifically having Full Control permissions?

Yes, I have full permissions on the D: drive, and previous versions (probably up to 1.6) installed without any issues. When I checked the folder on the D: drive, I found that D5_Lite_Sketchup_1.7.0.0007.exe had been created as a file only 1 KB in size.

Hi @spencer.k527

The 1 KB installer file indicates that the D5 Lite installer was not downloaded completely. Since you have the full permissions on the D: drive and previous versions installed successfully, a local permission issue is less likely.

  • Please check whether the network, firewall/proxy, antivirus, or endpoint security software is blocking or interrupting the installer download. If possible, test the download on another network or temporarily have IT check the security logs for the failed download.
