I just started using D5. I am using files that have been created in a .lh3d file and then saved and converted into .fbx file. I understand that the problem with this is the .fbx file. They don’t carry over the material and texture maps from the original file and I could work around that but as is the case with this latest issue, those objects, walls, etc, will not take any color or texture. The object will blink and flash or undulate various colors. Even if I can somehow get everything one color, any mirror reflection of the objects or walls, trim will often appear in the original color which is purple/green or blue. Is there a way around this? . Btw, I am a total newbie with this stuff so pardon me if I am asking a really stupid question.
Hello,
when importing FBX files, different texture information can be read in, depending on the data contained in the FBX file. Generally what can be read by other 3D software can also be read by D5.
When importing this FBX file into other DCCs such as Blender, C4D, Are all the materials still there?
I have never tried to use those other apps you mention. This is all very new to me. It wouldn’t be a problem if I could just add the material to those objects once it is in D5 but it will not allow it. I feel like I must be doing something wrong but i can’t figure out what that might be.
I will send you two screen shots. The first is the way the model looks before I convert to fbx and the second is what it looks like when it is in d5. The walls and trim that are purple or blue wont take color evenly or at all sometimes. Everything is supposed to be that butter yellow color and I have not been able to get it all the same color.
Hi,
Just for confirmation, what’s your modelling software? What format are the materials in? There are some materials that D5 does not support. You can send me the fbx file and I can test it in my environment as well as import it into other DCCs.
The original modeling software is called LIve Home 3d and it is really designed for amateur and do it yourself remodeling. You can also get really good results using it with rendering software. for this purpose, the software includes a conversion feature allowing the user to convert their modeling files formats that rendering software can read. The only file format they offer that D5 is compatible with is .fbx. I could send you the .fbx file but I think it is too large. Plus I can’t find the files, just the file folders
