Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out to the D5 Render community for some guidance regarding the organization of the Local Model Menu in D5 Render. I’ve been trying to create a more structured and hierarchical setup within my local models, similar to what we see in the online version. Specifically, I’m looking to emulate the categorization found online, such as the “Ceramic” category which then breaks down into subcategories like “Polished Ceramic” and “Matt Ceramic”.
I’m curious if there’s a way to replicate this level of organization in my local folder. Is there a method to create these submenus or hierarchies within the Local Model Menu? This organization would greatly enhance my workflow and model management.
Any advice, tips, or step-by-step guidance on how to achieve this would be immensely appreciated. I’ve been trying to figure this out but haven’t had much luck so far.
Thank you in advance for your time and assistance!
Best regards,

Hello Luna Lang,
Firstly, I’d like to express my sincere gratitude for your prompt response and consideration of my suggestion regarding the Local Model Menu organization. It’s great to hear that the team is actively working on improving the library assets classification, and I’m excited to see these developments!
Additionally, I have another concern I’d like to address. I’ve noticed a significant slowdown in the performance of the assets window since I added a large number of models (approximately 3000) and textures (around 4000) to my local folder. This has been impacting my workflow efficiency.
Could you please advise if there are any recommended practices or settings adjustments that could help mitigate this slowdown? Are there any specific file organization strategies or software optimizations that I should consider to improve the performance of the assets window with such a large volume of local data?
Thank you once again for your support and assistance. I look forward to any suggestions you might have.
Best regards,

Really thank you for your feedback. Could you please describe more detail about “a significant slowdown in the performance of the assets window”? I think this may assist us find the cause or solve the problem. It’s better if you can provide us a video record of your problem.
BTW, have you changed the location of the local library?
Hello Luna Lang,
Thank you for your response. To clarify the issue I’m experiencing: there’s a noticeable slowdown in the performance of the assets window in D5 Render. This lag, which is about a minute long, occurs whenever I open D5Render and access the assets for the first time. If I remove the assets, the loading times return to normal.
I’ve indeed changed the location of my local library. I’ve conducted some tests and observed that this lag happens regardless. The number of items I’ve added to materials and models is substantial, around 8000 in total. It seems unusual to me that D5 Render needs to access all files upon the initial opening of the assets panel. I’m concerned that as my local library grows, this waiting time will increase each time I open the program.
I hope this explanation provides a clearer picture of my issue. If you need any more details or have questions, feel free to ask.
