Archicad to D5 Render - Light types

Hi, I create many of my light objects from scratch in archicad, but I’m having trouble getting a light to be automatically recognized as a rectangular or a strip light in D5.

Could you provide insights on how D5 syncs lights and what properties it uses?

I know that the lightType works fine GENTYPE_OMNI (point light), GENTYPE_SPOT(spot light), but doesn’t seems to work for the GENTYPE_AREA or GENTYPE_IES.

I currently use the following variables in my light objects, which are compatible with C4D and other software:

-lightType = GENTYPE_AREA ?

  • iC4dDetAreaShape = AREASHAPE_RECT ?
  • c4dDetAreaX
  • c4dDetAreaY

Hi @pjkm21

Can you provide some screenshots or any images? I tried creating a light source in ArchiCAD and proceeded to use the Livesync Tool.

Please let me know if I answered your question. Thank you.

Hello !

I know that the “Area Light” works fine, but I create a lot of my lamp lights and I create simple objects to reuse in the project instead of using the “area light” with some 3D morph/slab/beam anda make save as an object see a simple example below:

That’s why I need to know what variables D5 uses in the light objects to auto detect the type of light.

Hi @pjkm21

We apologize for any inconvenience, but the specific process you’ve described is not yet available in the current LiveSync plugin. We acknowledge this as a limitation, and we want to assure you that our team is committed to addressing it. We’ve confirmed that this feature will be included in the next version releases of the ArchiCAD plugin. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us improve our software.
