AMD vs INTEL general opinion

Hi!

I know D5 render should work well on both, but many apps are normally better optimized for Intel. How is it with D5 render, would it work better with Intel or AMD CPUs?

I am asking because I have 2 CPUs one with Intel and one with AMD (which has a CPU with a better overall benchmark and a better GPU and D5 render works smoother on an Intel CPU. Aperantly the GPU with AMD is somehow bottlenecked? Intel is better in
Single-Threaded Performance and AMD in Multi-Threaded Performance. Maybe for D5 render Single-Threaded Performance is more important?

Here are the specifications for both PCs:

PC1: (D5 with heavier files is laggy)
AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
DDR4 3600MHz 64GB
RTX 3070 8GB

PC2: (works smooth)

I7 12700K (not overclocked)
DDR5 4000MHz 64GB
RTX 3060ti 8GB

Both PCs are updated and GPUs have the latest drivers installed.

I thought that the PC with RTX 3070 would work better. It also has a slightly slower ram, but can this affect that much?

Why do you think a PC with a 3060ti and intel CPU) works better than a 3070 with AMD CPU)?

Also which CPU and GPU would you choose for a new fresh build?

Thank you!

Hi @tjasa.kogovsek93 ,
a 3070 with AMD CPU seems to be faster. You can also have a look at benchmark results for reference. https://benchmark.d5render.com/result

Hi yes in theory, but in my case it is slower :frowning: it is actually pretty laggy with AMD CPU :frowning: maybe something is wrong
