Add different materials to identical objects.

Hello everyone!
After using Twinmotion for a long time, I decided to give D5 a try because there are many things I really like about it.

However, there’s one thing I’m not sure how to do — or whether it’s even possible.
Let’s say I have two identical windows in my model. They share exactly the same materials. What I’d like is for one window frame to be made of steel, and the other of wood.

In Twinmotion, there’s a simple option that lets you apply a material to a specific object (and only that object) with a single click.

On the other hand, D5 seems to work differently — it applies the chosen material based on the material imported from Archicad.

The problem with this second method is that I can only get the two windows to have different materials if I first change their materials in Archicad…

Hi @ixion2

Indeed, D5 reads whatever information regarding the material that was assigned in your 3d Modeling software (ArchiCAD).

  • If these surfaces are meant to have different materials, then you may need to manually change them in ArchiCAD.
  • Unless, if you have imported this specific object separately, then you can select the object > Select Make Unique
