3dsmax export sync coordinate not working

hi,
i have exported object as d5a from 3dsmax to working sync scene, exported object is in same file .
object position

after importing and sync coordinate that object is in different place than expected.

please check , and let me know if anything wrong im doing in my end.

thanks

Hi @visualplus

Just to clarify, when models are exported to D5A and are placed in D5 Render, they are usually placed manually, which makes you decide where the object is going to be placed. Do you perhaps mean that this model was just synced via the Livesync Tool?

  • Were you able to use any of the following features to ensure the coordinates are the same?
  • Which version of the plug-in are you currently using?

  • You may also try checking the Coordinate Switch Method.

hi,
i am not using, live sync. using sync is 3.4.1. even before this was working well in previous projects. please cross check .

thanks

Hi @visualplus

Please use the LiveSync version of the plugin. We have moved the non-LiveSync functionality into the LiveSync plugin. The older D5 Sync Plug-in is no longer being maintained, so we cannot guarantee that any new issues will be fixed.

Let me know if the issue persists.

hi, so i have query on this topic. how can i relink scene from older D5 Sync Plug-in to livesync plugin. so everything stays intact like material and imported objects.
bcoz my most projects linked on D5 Sync Plug-in.
please reply asap.
thanks

Hi @visualplus

After installing the Livesync plug-in, try to open your D5 File first, then your 3D Model File proceed with activating the Livesync.

hi,
i have installed livesync, after done suggested sync method by u . scene was rotated, so changed coordinate method to y/-y and scene matched. later i exported box again but that box is still not in position after sync coordinate. weird . im using 3dsmax 2020, is there any issue with this version.

max scene

d5 scene , box is away from glass

thanks

hi,
now i installed normal sync and its working well. box aligned perfect in sync coordinate.
idk what happen in between but all ok now.
thanks

Hi @visualplus

Just to clarify, this issue only occurs to this specific file right? Can you send us this 3d Model file for us to test?

ohh god its happening in all my projects. actual scene get shifted some where else , d5 assets stays still at place . sharing shots

3dsmax scene

d5 scene

i strongly think D5 normal sync messing with x/y switch method (all work done in same method). even livesync also not helping in this scenario.

after switching y/-y switch to both max and D5 all back to normal, why this x/y messed up with scenes.

please find what cause ASAP. everything was fine few days back.
thanks

Hi @visualplus

Can you confirm where these files are located? Are they perhaps placed in cloud storage or a shared server?

  • Have you tried placing them both (3d File and D5 File) in a local file path, perhaps in downloads? And were there any differences?

If issue persists even after placing in local file path, I may need to collect your Logs, Scene Files, and 3d Model File. Let me know.

hi,
everything is on local drive, i dont use cloud or server.
i think this is kind of bug and sync plugin is same and not updated, but D5 get updated in regular time. so D5 is doing something wrong.
please check .
thanks

Hi @visualplus

Just to clarify, the x/y option caused this issue on your end (base model file disappeared)? And after switching to y/-y, it all became normal?

  • Please try to click the 3d model in your oblect list then press “Z” to check if the position of the model was changed.

Additionally, can we collect your 3ds Max File and D5 File? Just to check if this issue occurs on our end as well.

Let me know if this is possible. Thank you.

hi, sure . shared please check
thanks

Hi @visualplus

I just tested your 3ds Max with your D5 File.

When Livesync is activated, it utilizes a specific coordinate system for synchronization. By default, Livesync is set to follow the host application’s X-Y coordinate plane (meaning the plane defined by the X and Y axes is typically the ground plane).

  • It appears that during your recent editing sessions (placing assets and materials), you might have been working with a setup or file configuration that uses a Y-Y coordinate plane, which is completely under expectation since the assets you have placed are based on the Y-Y model positioning, hence, activating the plug-in again without modifying its settings will yield a different placement.

  • I don’t think this is a concern or a bug since it is just a matter of remembering which coordinate system was used when you were first syncing the model.

hi,
from the day i work with d5, i never fiddle with method. using recomm. default X/y for all projects.
i strongly believe there some settings altered internally. is there any config file where x/y method is configured while we work in D5. i think that might got switched to y/-y for default.
today i started new project and as u see there no method ticked , all is in place so far.

thanks.

Hi @visualplus

I think this stems from the difference between D5 Livesync vs D5 Sync; you did mention that you were using D5 Sync ever since starting with our software.

  • D5 Sync: does not have any default activation on these settings compared to D5 Livesync (which I suggested for you to use).
  • D5 Livesync: By default, the plug-in uses the X-Y coordinates, and currently, there is no setting to change the default. Although I may need to confirm this with our team.

hi,
right, i use D5 Sync for long time. but this never happen . ask team about co-ord in D5 Sync . does anything changed in sync and 3dsmax relation or D5 to recognize. im sure about this topic, something is changed. its happening all my projects, i have to choose y/-y for all to get in place.
and one more thing when i export object from same file as d5a to import as option. that import placed on some other place even after ciicked sync co-or. i think export is taking x/y co-or in export. something is going wrong. before everything was perfect with same D5 sync.
thanks
