3ds Max + D5 Sync Issue After Moving Project to Another PC

Hello everyone,

I need some help with a workflow issue.

I was working on a project on one computer where my 3ds Max scene was linked to a D5 file using the Sync button. Later, I copied the entire project to my second computer so I could continue working on it, keeping the same file names and structure.

However, when I open the scene on the second computer and reconnect it using the Sync button, all materials get reset.

What is the correct workflow to avoid this problem?
Also, what is the proper way to work on the same project in a studio environment, where two people need to work on the same files and share them, without materials getting reset?

Any advice or best practices would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hi @samo.kosnac

Sorry for the inconvenience. To help narrow down your exact issue, could you please confirm:

  1. When you synced on the first computer, were all texture files saved inside the project folder, or were they located in other system folders?
  2. On the second computer, is the file path exactly the same as on the first (including drive letters and folder structure)?
  3. Did you copy the D5 workspace/cache folders in addition to the 3ds Max scene and D5 project file?
  4. Are the same versions of D5 and 3ds Max installed on both machines?
