Could someone confirm - I mainly use Corona and could I convert Corona materials to some other material which will work in D5?

This will be an instant buy if it works.

Hello, you could convert Corona materials to Vray materials, and then it will work in D5 Render.

When I read this text, I started to think I have never heard that D5 would accept Vray-materials easily. I downloaded a 3dsmax model with Vray-materials and it works!
I have had a feeling I would like to render my corona-scenes with D5 but the problem has been changing the materials, choosing new ones from D5. But now if Vray-materials work, then everything is very clear
Thank you!

No problem, and @stallfish’s sharing is nice too

Hi! We’re just beginning to learn D5render and we have imported successfully our 3DsMax scene with V-Ray materials into D5render, they look fine. However, we can´t find the way to edit the imported V-Ray materials within the D5render editor. The option doesn’t appear. Is this possible?, or should we convert the V-Ray materials to Standard? Thanks so much for the help!

Hi @mf3

Have you unlocked the model in D5 Render and used the Material Picker ( Letter “I”) and pointed it at the material surface?

Hi!! Thanks for your quick support. We have tried to pick the material of any scene element (scene imported from 3dsmax with “keep Group Hierarchy”: Is that your “unlocked” tip? ) and we find the same problem: we can see the materials and textures in each element/object but we can´t edit any material and after pointed the surface with the Material Picker, “Inspector right area” appears empty, without any edition option. ¿Is it possible to edit VrayMaterial in D5render? Because we have tested changing one element Vraymaterial to a PhysicalMaterial, update the D5render scene and then we can edit that material in D5render. ¿Does it make sense? We thought we could edit Vraymaterials in D5render without problem… The fact is that we have found one Vraymaterial imported in D5render that we can edit! Only the mirror Vraymaterial of one object, that Vraymaterial is showed in Inspector area for edit parameters… It´s weird!

After, we have tried to export 3dsmax file in sketchup file. We have loaded the skecthup file in D5render and then, it looks like we can edit all VrayMaterials!! Could be this the only way to edit VrayMaterials in D5render?

Thanks for reading and helping!

Hi @mf3

I apologize, I simply meant this icon, which can be found in D5 Render. But I don’t think this will help based on your updated statement.

  • For now, VRAY Material support is limited. It’s best to use other types of material which will differentiate these surfaces in D5.
  • V-Ray 2-Sided Material—Only front side is supported at the moment, no support for reverse side/back side
