Sync pivot

Hi there,
I’ve been looking for a way to synchronize the 3ds max pivot point with the d5 for some time. I found a guide on how to do it from sketch up, but I’m using 3ds max. After setting the pivot in 3ds and clicking sync pivot in d5, the pivot moves to an unspecified location. Does this option only work for sketch up? And what can I do to change the pivot in d5? I saw a workaround solution, is this the only way?

Hi lukas,
Thanks for reaching out. That option should also work for models from 3ds Max, but it can only recognize the origin point (0,0,0) of 3ds Max World coordinate system, not Object/Local coordinate system.
You can move the model near the origin point then check the result.

If the problem persists, please show us a screenshot or record a video to show us how you set the pivot.
You can also email support@d5techs.com to open a ticket in D5 Help Center.

Thanks,
Oliver

Thank you for the quick reply. Picture my problem. No matter if I sync or export to skp, d5a, the pivot is in the same place, after pressing sync the pivot moves to an unspecified place. I will be grateful for advice. Regards

You are welcome! we would support this feature better in future~

Hello,
I can’t synchronise the pivot, even though you can see on my images that I’ve configured my source model to pivot the door and open it.
thank you for your help

Hello, @julienfischel

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing this issue. Have you checked if your door has been properly synchronized with the world coordinates position in your modeling software before importing it to D5 Render? It’s important to sync it first to avoid any misalignment of models. You can refer to this guide to prevent the issue: Why do models become displaced after replacement/update? | User Manual

Please let me know if these suggestions work for you. Thank you.

Hello,
I know this video, but it still doesn’t work this model. It is a simple door. If I change sketchup model axes, clic in D5 on "sync pivot nothing happens. I just triyed again this morning after receving your reply.
Shall I send the skp model to you ?
Thanks

this door leaf is a separate skp model for integration into a D5 model and pivoting during animation.
I did another test by synchronising this door leaf with a blank D5 model. I unlocked the model in D5 to access the ‘sync pivot’ menu and when I activated it, the pivot changed: instead of being placed at the origin of my current model, it was placed below the door, at the point where the axes were, apparently, when the skp model was created…

While I was waiting to find out what was wrong, I thought of a trick: I copied the geometry of my door into a blank skp model and placed it as I liked.
In this case the pivot sync worked

I found a D5 logsfolder. Do you need the skp file or d5 file?

did not find the support tool, but I found the zziplog

how to send the archive to you?

Hello,

Just drop it here, please.

il I drop it in the window, it asks me to download it. I hope it’s ok

Please send your SKP files to support@d5techs.com for testing and thorough investigation. You can add this complete file link issue (from forum). Lastly, tag me @maslu your technical support for easy tracking.

Thank you

Hello, could you please send me the skp files of the house or structure where the door should be place? So I could sync it in there. Thanks
