SketchUp LiveSync doesn't support file name with " -"

I just realized that if my SketchUp file name contains " -", D5 Render does not launch and SketchUp runs without ever returning control.
For example:

  • I have a file named “test-1.skp” open in SketchUp. If I click on “Connect to D5 Render”, everything works fine.
  • I rename my file to “test -1.skp” and open it in SketchUp. When I click on “Connect to D5 Render”, no D5Render process launches and SketchUp does not respond. I am obliged to force it to close…

I am using SketchUp 2025 (25.0.660), D5 LiveSync 1.5.0.0017, and D5 Render 2.10.1.0579.

Thanks for bringing this up. I have replicated this issue successfully on my end and have reported it further to our team. We will be fixing this issue in future releases.

For now, other than renaming it, the workaround can be:

  • Open an empty D5 File first, then activate Live-sync Plug-in for SKP
