Hello there,
we’ve got a lot of vectorworks projects, that have different versions of custom furniture.
So the building itself doesn’t change, but the interior does a lot.
Apparently the storage of the individual scenes currently can only save D5 settings, such as viewpoint, lighting, materials, visibility of objects, etc. but not the visibilities of the synced model.
So if we create multiple scenes, where each one of those shows the same room, but different reception desks (different in geometry, not or also in materials), and we switch back to a previous scene, it always just shows the reception desk, that’s currently showing in the linked program, not the one that was used (turned visible in our program) to create that specific scene. Also if these scenes are saved to the render queue directly after their creation and we render these, they don’t show the different desks, but all the same one, that was turned visible for the last created one (state of render time).
So it takes a lot of time to render these correctly, because we have to save the visibility states of the synced model in our own program and have to turn the right ones on, parallel to the matching saved D5 scenes and then render each one after another, before the next version can be turned visible. Or we can only link the building and have to export de individual desks / objects as FBX files and import + place them one on one in D5, for the scenes to be able to save their visibility states. Which on the other hand makes it more time consuming if we need to adjust their material or geometry later on.
So, if the scenes would be able to save those visibility informations of the synced vectorworks model (layers & classes) to their storage (and optionally command the program to turn them on/off on it’s own), that woul be very amazing. ![]()
