Rhino displacement issue

so I have a method of creating displacement for D5 through rhino, it works great, but for some reason, not good in D5.

lets go thorough it. first I create displacement and set it to very high. then I Extract render mesh and apply reduce mesh and reduce it 85%. after that, I convert it to SubD and convert it back to mesh. you can see the result in rhino which is smooth, but in D5 it’s not.

now here it gets interesting, when I import this mesh to 3Dsmax, and sent it to D5, it becomes smooth again.

meaning, there is something wrong with D5 plugin for Rhino. Is there anyway to fix this? no one likes back and forth workflow from rhino to max for this :))

Hi there. I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused.

  • May I know if the live sync you currently use is the latest one? Ver: 1.1.0.0002, which was released on October 25, 2024.

  • Would it be possible for you to send this file to support@d5techs.com and have it titled “Clov-Forum,” or can you send it through a link (wetransfer, Google, etc.) any convenient method. Thank you.

thank you for your response, yes I am using the latest version. and this can happen to any displacement map you apply, and doesn’t really depends on map or file. but here is the file in the images: Displacement Test

interestingly, if you export d5a, it works!
