This is very interesting and shows the differences in render quality.
Still, I have to say that the rendering also depends on the settings of the artist.
D5 is not as bad as it is made out to be.
Blender Eevee is brilliant. This is fact.
I hope that D5 comes closer to this quality.
Visual quality comparison could be quite subjective unless you align the materials, lightings, tone mapping, and etc… As far as I understand about Blender Eevee and D5 GI, the former is designed to be realtime but comprised in quality (pure probe based lighting) while D5 GI is designed to achieve offline quality while being as realtime as possible. You could find more details in the blog: https://www.d5render.com/post/d5-render-global-illumination
In principle that is correct. However, I’m only interested in the result. In this video you can see clear differences, which you can not deny. The render times are almost identical for all.
Cycles renderer is very good in microshadows. In this feature, even Twinmotion has overtaken D5.
The test shown is not objective. The user compares static renders, and says that he wants to make a video. Then he had to show video clips say 10 seconds each and compare. Quality in D5 can be achieved by rendering in 4K with DLSS off. D5 uses different algorithms for satic and video rendering. Yes, there is no limit to perfection, but such comparisons mislead users.
In Twinmotion, you cannot render a video for interior at all, if it takes 1 minute or more to render a frame (video shows - 1m 44s for frame). Render time will be almost infinite. 1 second is equal to 30 minutes of rendering at 30 frames per second, 10 seconds = 300 minutes of render (6 hours) and this is not 4K quality, but 1920x1080.
My render interior in D5 (DLSS OFF) for 1 second video takes 4 minutes in 3840Ń…2160pix, not 30minutes like in Twinmotion in 1920Ń…1080pix (120 minutes fof 4k).
For interior according to this video.
D5 Render (DLSS OFF) 4K video render - 1 second = 4 minutes of render. Tested myself.
Twinmotion (PT ON) 4K video render - 1 second = 120minutes of render. Tested myself.
Blender Eevee - Not tested myself and in the presented video, we also did not see the video rendering time.
I believe every software has realised that realism is what users want. Offcourse ease of use is important. But realism is what sets it apart. Strong partnerships (vray + enscape / TM + UE,…) prove that. Competition is strong at this moment, one year one software will be the best, the other year the other one will be better. I believe in the pace D5 is evolving but they can’t afford to go slower in this though market. IMO Lumion missed the train and unless a complete overhaul of the base will happen they are out of the game.
I would love if we could get corona quality in D5, that imo the king of realism. Hey a man can dream :).
Especially D5 has a big advantage.
The handling is very easy.
Corona is difficult to catch up with. They don’t make anything else.
I also think it’s good that the D5 has its very own look.
It’s ridiculous to talk about long render times with realtime and RTX technology these days.
If the result is perfect, I’ll be happy to wait a little longer…
That’s the only way you’ll earn money and get orders.
The clients are now very well informed and know what is possible today.
Then they often ask the question “Can you deliver that quality too?”
Please D5 team, keep on going.
It’s all strange.
You could just post a video from Corona render youtube channel, and say that you want the same quality. “happy to wait a little longer…” “Please D5 team, keep on going.”
As an Interior Designer in the USA, time is money, D5 is just for me the fastest way to show your client a CONCEPTUAL VISUALIZATION, I emphasized this because with my experience with many of the clients what they see if the paint shade is a little off then becomes a problem.
I know that we want to be close as possible in the design but still is a visually presentation until you get the final real finishes on hand. I love 5D render is very easy to work with, I have Vray, Lumion but I keep using and learning D5. Thank you and keep up the great work
