PROXY Objects between the Design Platform (Archicad, Sketchup, Revit etc.) and D5

The whole idea here is to optimize the time needed to prepare the model in D5.
If we are able to connect the objects in the architectural platform (ex. Archicad) with objects in D5 that means that when you move/rotate/copy/delete an object in your model this object will act the same in D5. Which means you don’t have to manually start altering the object in D5 also.
The trick here is to be able to adjust the moving point/scale/axis of the object in archicad with the object in D5 so the adjustements will be correct (for example move a sofa next to the wall.
This setting procedure will be needed only once for the first model. Then the proxy connection will take the rest.

Take for example a model in Archicad in which you have 50 chairs. That means that you have to place 50 chairs in D5 (we use simple chairs in Archicad to produce the drawings, not complcated models)
If this chair had a proxy connection that means that automatically 49 chairs will be placed in the right position in D5.
If you decide to alter the position in Archicad the automatically the chairs will be updated in D5. If you decide to alter the proxy chair, automatically the chairs will be updated in D5
Everything will become automatic and minimize the errors.
This is going to be a game changer
I cannot describe it more simple on the basis of optimizing the workflow.
Greetings

Yes, being able to choose import type, similar to Twinmotion where it is simple and easy to use light models in Revit, and then bulk replace objects in D5 would save users a ton of time.

I have a long time (15 years) using Sketchup for my 3D and archviz models. For rendering I use Thea render from the first version, I was also a V-ray tester for Sketchup.

Including complex models through proxies is very important.
For this I use Transmutr, a really useful and easy-to-use tool, a couple of clicks are enough to include any complex OBJ, FBX, SKP model.

Check it:

Right now it supports proxies for: Thea render, V-ray and Enscape.

They are great guys, and I think there is a chance for collaboration to support D5 proxies in the future. It would be great!

An example:

Thank you, me too George!

I’m interested in Skatter also Ivan, how could you use Skatter in sketchup and render it in D5?
@ivan_dedos

Hi Huss!

the same way you now work with V-ray, Thea and Enscape:

I mean exporting the geometry as Proxy for D5 and will D5 recognize it, I didn’t purchase it yet and I’m searching for the best plugin for scattering

Then you also have immediately the option to import (in the end a proxy) from Quixel Bridge. Two for one!

The idea is good.

Has this been discussed further since 2021? A proxy system would be huge.

Integrating complex models using proxies is really important, especially in architectural visualization where complex details and large scenes are common. So be careful, because it’s easy to buy proxies, but the most important thing is that they are fully suitable for you. Thea Render and V-Ray are powerful rendering engines, and it’s interesting that you have experience with them. As the industry evolves, so do the tools and technologies, so it’s useful to keep up to date with the latest advances.

Greetings to the D5 Render team and the community,

I am proposing an enhancement that could potentially elevate our rendering experience to new heights. The core of this proposal revolves around integrating support for SketchUp proxies within D5 Render, which in turn would lay down a pathway for incorporating the remarkable Skatter plugin by Lindalë https://lindale.io/skatter.

1. SketchUp Proxy Support:

SketchUp proxies are pivotal in managing complex scenes and ensuring a smoother workflow. By rendering lightweight proxy objects in the viewport, while keeping the high-res geometry for the final render, we can significantly cut down on the system resources required during the design phase.
Implementing this feature would inherently bridge the interoperability between SketchUp and D5 Render, making the transition between these two platforms seamless and efficient.

2. Skatter Plugin Integration:

Skatter by Lindalë is a phenomenal plugin used extensively for scattering populations of objects and vegetation in a scene. It’s a go-to tool for many professionals to achieve realistic, nature-filled scenes.
With the Skatter plugin, the potential for creating realistic environments in D5 Render expands exponentially. The plugin would allow us to populate our scenes with high-quality 3D vegetation, which is essential for achieving a natural look in architectural visualizations and other render projects.
The synergy of SketchUp proxy support and Skatter plugin integration would not only streamline our workflow but also unlock a new realm of creative possibilities. This fusion would undeniably save us a considerable amount of time, and significantly enhance the realism and quality of our renders.

I believe many in the community would echo the sentiment and find immense value in these enhancements. It’s a stride towards making D5 Render a more robust and versatile rendering solution. I am hopeful that this proposal resonates with others and garners enough attention for consideration in a future update.

Thank you for the continuous efforts in making D5 Render an outstanding rendering platform. Looking forward to the discussion and the exciting possibilities this integration could bring to our community.

this would be very useful

I am an architectural designer who uses Rhino 8 and VisualARQ 3 for design and modeling, and Enscape for rendering. Recently, I came across D5 software and was impressed by its excellent performance. Consequently, I Subscribe a monthly pro user license.

However, I was disappointed to find out that objects set up in D5 do not transfer back to Rhino 8 as proxies like Enscape does, nor can proxy objects be directly set up in Rhino 8. This is regrettable because I have already established a workflow that integrates proxy objects with a BIM system. This makes it difficult for me to switch to using D5. I hope in the future the design team can consider providing proxy objects like Enscape does, allowing users to directly set up furniture, vegetation, and people within the modeling software.

It would be nice to import proxy models from vray or corona.

Thanks for the advice!
