We’re currently trying to establish a VR-Workflow that’s fast in generating, easy to edit and comfortable for client-presentations.
-
Linking VR-Headset directly to D5:
impractical for on site presentations, no viewpoint restrictions for viewers, not shareable,
runs very slow/laggy on portable workstations/laptops, no custom effects/backgrounds
per scene (“one big scene”), link/media spots & floor plans can’t be added, -
XR Tour:
takes very (too) long to render, no viewpoint restrictions for viewers,
no custom effects/backgrounds per scene (“one big scene”) -
Spatial Tour:
Buggy (anchor points sometimes not visible), dollhouse isn’t using actual 3D model
but kind of warps the rendered images around spatial information (looks horrible,
like a squashed a 3D-papermodel), while looking around (without movement)
in the scenes the panoramas seem to be distorted / cut up (parallaxe, for example some
parts seem to be doubled, weird cuts trough the images where the parts are slightly
postponed), no custom effects/backgrounds per scene (“one big scene”) -
Panorama Tour: (our current favorite)
what we love about it
- uses 360° panorama renderings (restricted viewpoint, custom effects / backgrounds
& visibilities per scene, no parallaxe / distortions while looking around,
takes short time to render, presentation runs seamless on workstations/laptops) - Editor (custom Anchor / Media Hotspots, cloud sharing via link, floor plan navigation,
multiple statuses, in general all the setting options)
what would make it even better
- download option for local presentations (not entirely cloud-based, we´re afraid the
data might get lost and would like to have a backup stored somewhere for example on
our company-server, also on site presentations would be unaffected by bad
internet-connections), basically like the folder that’s exported by generating
a spatial tour and can be opened locally - local / offline generating & editing (again like the spatial tour, to be able to put the Tour
together directly in D5 and not exclusively in the cloud, also to have the Tour-Editor
integrated in D5 to use all the setting-options, batch-rendering + local export) - batch-import in cloud-generated panorama tours (instead of having to upload one
panorama after another to be able to select an upload multiple at once)
- uses 360° panorama renderings (restricted viewpoint, custom effects / backgrounds
