My wish list

Dear D5 Development Team,

First of all, congratulations on your latest release — outstanding work!
I had not renewed my Pro license from two or three years ago because the software lacked some essential features. However, with the recent updates, D5 has become a truly powerful tool.

My 3D workflow is primarily based on Rhinoceros, 3ds Max, FStorm, Forest Pack Pro, and RailClone. Now, I’m seriously considering adding D5 to my pipeline for creating animations of outdoor architectural projects.

Of course, I’m not trying to directly compare D5 with a full suite of high-end tools that together cost significantly more. However, considering the rapid evolution of technology, I believe D5 has the potential to streamline — and in some cases replace — many steps we currently take as 3D designers.

Here are a few suggestions I would love to see implemented in future updates:

MODEL ASSETS

1 Integration with 3dsky — A native, fully optimized integration of the entire 3dsky model library (with materials). I would be willing to pay extra for this. I currently spend over $100/month on high-quality models and would prefer not to convert them manually.
2 Support for Maxtree libraries — Especially animated vegetation assets. Again, I’d gladly pay for this integration.
3 More dynamic assets — Specifically, a significantly larger variety of animated people and vehicles (ideally 10x more than currently available).

ANIMATIONS

1 Editable animation curves — I need fine-tuned control over each animation parameter via customizable curve editors.
2 Motion blur — Support for motion blur on animated objects.

COLOR CORRECTION

1 Timeline-based color grading — A built-in color correction panel on the animation timeline, allowing grading of the entire sequence directly in D5.
2 Video scopes and HDR histograms — For precise color control and professional workflows.

AI INTEGRATION

1 Prompt-based visual enhancement — Integration with tools like Flux or similar, for prompt-driven image enhancement. The current AI tool feels too limited and lacks control.

LIGHTING TOOLS

1 Distribute lights along paths — I frequently use IES lights and need the ability to distribute them along custom paths. Currently, distributing grouped lights along a path is not supported.
2 Instanced lights — It would be very helpful to modify one light and have the changes reflect across all instances automatically, instead of adjusting each one manually.

PATH EDITING

1 Bezier paths — Please add support for Bezier curves with adjustable handles, for smoother and more flexible motion paths.

Thank you for your continued innovation and for listening to the community. I’m truly excited about D5’s future and look forward to incorporating it into my daily workflow.

Best regards.
