I’d like to suggest some terrain editing features inspired by tools like Unreal Engine and terrain generators such as Gaea and World Machine, which would greatly improve workflow and realism in D5 Render:
-
Road construction tools that automatically adapt to terrain relief, using splines or similar methods to create realistic roads with accurate slopes and curves. This would save time and improve scene authenticity. Importantly, these roads would automatically update their shape and elevation if the terrain is modified, saving time and maintaining consistency.
-
River tracing tools to draw and generate rivers or streams that naturally follow the terrain contours, with the ability to update dynamically if the terrain changes.
-
Ability to import custom splat maps from software like Gaea or World Machine, specifically used for the distribution of terrain textures (such as grass, rock, soil, sand). This would allow precise and efficient texture painting based on the generated topography and save manual work.
-
Support for an additional splat map dedicated to vegetation distribution, enabling users to control where different plants, trees, and bushes appear on the terrain according to external data.
This would greatly enhance the natural look and complexity of landscapes.
Adding these features would provide users with more powerful and intuitive control over terrain creation directly within D5 Render.
Thank you for considering these ideas, and for the great work on D5 Render!
