Importing Proxy Objects from 3ds Max to D5 – Best Practice for Performance

Hi everyone,

I create my main models in 3ds Max and sync them with D5 Render. I have a question regarding the best approach for optimizing scene performance.

Let me explain with an example: Suppose I need to place curtains inside multiple apartments. I’m considering two different methods:

1. Creating the curtain as a proxy object in 3ds Max, instancing it across all apartments, and then importing it into D5 as is.
2. Importing a single curtain model in D5A format into D5 and then duplicating it directly within D5.

Which method would be better in terms of performance? Which one would put less strain on the scene? I’d love to hear your experiences and recommendations.

Thanks!

imo second option is logical and works well. while u import object separate and place them in d5 would work as instance. ( tip : export curtain after placing it to origin of project, so u will get pivot close to curtain and easy to place. if u export curtain from actual place in project, ur pivot point would be at origin of project and that would be very hard to place them.
in first method d5 count each object from 3dsmax as individual object, just material property would be instance. and ur file size would be large than second method.
hope its helpful.
thanks
