I’ve encountered an issue while working with D5 Render for Rhino, and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same or knows a potential fix.
Here’s the problem: When I assign geometries to specific layers inside of a block in Rhino and then turn those layers off, the geometries still show up in the D5 render. This seems to happen regardless of whether the layers are turned off or on in Rhino, making it quite frustrating to manage visibility when rendering complex scenes.
Has anyone found a solution or workaround for this issue? Is there a setting in D5 Render or Rhino that needs to be adjusted, or is this a bug that we need to report to the D5 development team?
Looking forward to any insights or tips you might have!
Hi there, I am so sorry for this issue. May I know the current version of Rhino and D5 Livesync that you are using? Can you also provide us with images or screenshots of this issue? Looking forward to your reply, thank you.
Hi there. Thank you for providing these screenshots. Can you check your D5 Livesync for Rhino and see if you use the latest version?
Also, I tried to recreate the environment where the problem was evident. I tried to turn off the layer where the model was located and synced it to D5 Render, and it seems to have functioned well. Perhaps it would be possible for you to send that specific Theatre Seating Model so I can test it on my end. You can send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled ‘Clov-Forum’ and then just briefly describe the issue. Thank you!
Hi and thank you @clovisbolasco14 for your reply!
I’m not sure how to check Livesync version. Could you help me with that?
Here is what I got from running the D5SyncVersion command in Rhino:
→ D5 Sync for Rhino 0.12.0.0028 (Jan 4 2024 11:06:29)
I just installed D5 two days ago, but maybe something went wrong when installing.
If the version is not the issue I’ll send you a test model to explain better the problem.
I use the latest version of livesync, the issue happens when with geometries inside of a block, geometries that you hide by turning off the layer. They all get turned on,
For example, lets say i have a chair model where the structure of the chair is on one layer, and the seat/cushion is on different layers. Within the block, I have multiple types of cushions, each associated with a different layer (e.g., cushion type A, B, or C on separate layers). When I toggle off any of these cushion layers in Rhino, they correctly disappear in Rhino’s viewport, but in D5 Render, all cushion types still appear regardless of the layer visibility.
It seems that blocks in Rhino are not respecting the layer visibility settings when rendered in D5.
Hi @ict@martin.genet, I might not have recreated the exact environment where the issue was prevalent nevertheless, I will be reporting this issue to my team so we can further assess it and have a probable fix. Thank you so much for understanding.
Hi @ict@martin.genet, we have released the newest version of Rhino Livesync, which has supported this layer structure. You may want to update your Livesync to the latest version and check it out. Thank you.
