Enhancing Energy Conservation in D5 Render

I wanted to share an idea that could improve the efficiency of your software and enhance user experience.

Currently, I’ve noticed that D5 Render continues to utilize GPU resources during certain tasks, such as loading assets, loading materials, saving assets, and performing AI enhancement. While this approach ensures smooth operations, it also results in constant GPU activity, which might affect hardware lifespan and energy efficiency over time.

To address this, I suggest adopting an energy conservation mechanism similar to Lumion’s. Lumion has implemented a feature where GPU usage is minimized during tasks other than real-time rendering, allowing the GPU to “rest” during less demanding operations. This not only conserves energy but also reduces hardware wear and tear, enhancing its longevity and overall performance.

Integrating such a feature in D5 Render could bring the following benefits:

  • Improved energy conservation, reducing overall power consumption.
  • Extended GPU hardware lifespan due to less frequent usage during non-intensive tasks.
  • Enhanced software efficiency, providing users with a more sustainable rendering solution.

agree, what u suggested would be a Big challenge for D5 team. same time would be biggest efficiency achievement.
looking forward. up voted.
thanks

Good idea.
But does this involve shifting the workload (in the cases you mentioned) to the CPU?
