Hello D5 Render team and community,
I frequently work with EXR exports, especially in 4K, and I’ve noticed that the current uncompressed EXR files are extremely large, often too heavy to manage efficiently in professional workflows.
To improve the EXR export process, I have some suggestions:
-
Add ZIP (lossless) compression option** to significantly reduce file sizes without any quality loss.
-
Provide a choice of compression methods such as ZIP, PIZ, or RLE to give users flexibility based on their needs.
-
Allow control over bit depth (16-bit vs 32-bit) for EXR files, so users can balance between quality and file size.
-
Enable exporting of specific render passes (diffuse, specular, shadows, etc.) encapsulated within the EXR file to streamline compositing workflows.
These features would greatly enhance the flexibility and efficiency of working with EXR files. I understand that implementing these options may take time, but they would be valuable additions for many users.
Thank you for your consideration and for the excellent work on D5 Render!
