d5 to sketchup livesync

Hello, I’m a new user of D5 and I really like it, but I have some questions. I’m using SketchUp with LiveSync for D5, but I haven’t fully understood how it works…

Let’s suppose I have an architectural project in SketchUp. I start LiveSync in D5, I apply my materials and lights until I’m happy with the result, and then I close the programs.

When I reopen SketchUp, all the settings in D5 are gone…

And if I need to make changes to the SketchUp geometry? Do I have to redo everything from scratch (lights, materials in D5)?

From what I saw, I can export a D5A file from SketchUp, but then I lose the connection with the geometry…

Can someone please clarify this for me?

Hi @lesxet

Saving the file after working on it and reopening it should not revert the materials to its default appearance. By chance, are you using a Cloud Storage (One Drive, Google Drive, etc.) when storing these files? If so, please put them first in your local file directory while working on them.

  • For now, we don’t recommend using a Cloud Storage to store these files since it may cause some problems.
