Many of the new features introduced in D5 2.11 have not significantly improved my workflow; instead, they have caused substantial performance instability on my PC, to the point where some older projects have become almost unworkable.
Attempting to roll projects back from version 2.11 to 2.10 has further corrupted them rather than resolving the issues. I would strongly encourage greater focus on core functionality, performance optimisation, and overall stability.
The performance issues are clearly reproducible in the sample project I submitted. Unfortunately, the responses from the helpdesk have not identified the root cause and have been limited to general advice, which has not been particularly helpful. I do appreciate the team’s efforts, but I believe D5 can perform much better—especially on real-world projects where live models change daily.
I hope the upcoming 3.0 beta will meaningfully address these performance and stability concerns. I planned to replace whole teams enscape render with d5 however the performance issues stoped me from advance the plans for more than 6 months already.
We also need real consulting about deploying d5 team feature on board but only find the confusion from video tutorials.
Twinmotion and Enscape have released versions that run using the Metal API, and I’m sure the D5 team will do the same. It won’t be as performant as a GPU, but if it can run, that’s enough for me.
Path tracing has already been disabled for AMD GPUs, which makes it clear how tightly these features are tied to NVIDIA hardware. Expecting full support on Apple via Metal is therefore unrealistic.
In practice, most professional 3D workflows run on Windows with NVIDIA GPUs. Mac support may exist at a basic level, but full feature parity and serious performance are very unlikely.
Hi everyone, sorry to insist, but can anyone tell me if Beta 3.0 has started and, if so, how to access it?
I requested to participate but haven’t received anything, either by email or on Discord.
Do I need to participate in/install Alpha 3.0 first?
Maybe it’s too early?
