Background function

Hello D5 team,

I work with different programs for visualization and animation.
Among other things, for many years, with GAMMA-RAY.
In this software there is a very good function for the background, sky and environments.
Here it is possible to simply put any photo into the background.
The following function are then possible with it.

  • Of course, change size and position.
  • Mirror background photo.
  • Bluescreen function to make certain colors disappear.
  • Layer function to put different photos on top of each other.
  • Adjust colors and brightness.
  • Should the background also be visible in reflections?
  • Any number of backgrounds can be created, one for the sky, one for the reflections.
  • It is also possible to use the same background for camera and reflections.
  • Different backgrounds for different viewpoints.
  • The background influences the daylight or not.

And some other possibilities.
A powerful feature that I use frequently and sorely miss in D5.
This feature usually saves me from having to post-process the background in an image editor.

For the future I wish this functionality also in D5.

Hello everyone,

It has now been over 2 years without this function being developed, despite the statement that the development team would take care of it.

Is it still being worked on or even started or will this wish no longer be realised?

hi mate, unfortunately, this function was not implemented due to practical reasons, but in 2.9 we add terrain working as a background, and in the next version we will probably add some buildings that you can use them as background. I am not sure whether this feature request can be realized in future, sorry for that.
