Hello D5 Render Team,
As a frequent user working between SketchUp (with V-Ray/Corona) and D5 Render, I’d like to suggest an improvement that would significantly optimize our workflow:
Technical Proposal:
Implement a system that automatically preserves and transfers all material maps when importing models from SketchUp, including:
- Base maps (albedo/diffuse)
- Relief maps (normal/bump)
- Reflection maps (roughness, metalness, specular)
- Special maps (opacity, emissive, AO)
Key Benefits:
- Efficiency: Would eliminate the need to manually reassign each map in D5 Render
- Visual Fidelity: Would maintain the original artistic intent of materials
- Compatibility: Would ease migration of existing projects to D5 Render
- Teamwork: Would allow model sharing between users while preserving complete materials
Practical Use Case:
Currently, when exporting a model from SketchUp with V-Ray/Corona, we lose advanced material settings and must recreate them manually in D5 Render. Direct integration would save us hours of work per project.
Would it be possible to consider this integration for future versions? I’m certain many users transitioning from traditional render engines would appreciate this feature.
Best regards
