Automatic creation of physical light from an inspiration image

Hello everyone,

Recently I have been using AI (Firefly from Adobe) to give me visual inspiration for my renderings.

And in this process an idea appeared to me, when I modeled a villa on Sketchup. I’ll explain.
My Rendering :

After modeling my villa, I wanted to have inspiration for a night mode. So I used the iA to make suggestions. I imported a clay image (wireframe) of my 3D model as a composition in Firefly.

IMAGE COMPOSITION :

Then I imported as a style, an inspiration image taken at night in Firefly.
STYLE IMAGE :

The AI proposals are really very interesting, particularly in light management. The light output is very relevant!
IA RENDERING (Firefly) :

Unfortunately the image generated by the iA at this stage is not satisfactory. Indeed, a lot of detail is missing, visual inconsistencies, bugs and artifacts, approximate textures, window-dressing (trompe l’oeil)… So I cannot use the image as is. So, from this image of inspiration generated by the AI, I have to recreate the universe and the nocturnal atmosphere in D5, with lights, etc.

This is where the incredible idea in my opinion could be invented for D5.

I imagined importing the image generated by the AI into D5 Render, and D5 would be able to create automatically on my villa model, lights in the right places with the right color temperature, the right intensity, so that the whole thing looks like the image of AI.

It would be a sort of improved “AI Atmosphere Match”, where the integration of light would be taken into account!

If this feature existed, it would create enormous creative flexibility. That would be incredible! :open_mouth:
Tell me what you think?

Thanks for reading.
I wish you all a good weekend.:wink::+1: Bye

Technically, we are not there yet, even if we hope or believe that AI could give us inspirational suggestions in architecture. However, the suggestions are gimmicks and mostly useless. As long as AI does not have its own architectural knowledge like we do and only combines the suggestions from existing photo archives.

I see no added value here. In addition, I find it boring to type in so many text combinations and do it several times to get something not bad. We would be better advised to place the lights ourselves with D5 Render.

Or will we have, by the future architects, perhaps with AI such forms without training and experience as in the art world

Hi Dadi,

Thank you for your comment. I tend to agree with you, in that without architectural knowledge AI can quickly become a gadget. On the other hand, perhaps your answer concerns your own use of D5 render.

My suggestion for a new AI model only concerns the positioning of lights, not the creation of an architectural model. Technically it’s not that long ago. Many images created on D5 do not reflect reality. Indeed, the use of D5 can be used to stage a construction project. Just take the use of the D5 “rectangle light” tool to understand that its use does’nt correspond to real use, but can be used to simulate a photo studio mode to beautify a scene.

My use of D5 goes in this direction.

In any case, thank you for your point of view. :+1:

I’m waiting for other opinions on this subject.
Thanks to you :wave::wink: :+1:

Hi everyone,

I provide additional information regarding this idea of automatic positioning and adjustment of lights on a stage.

Today I integrated light into my scene. I think I spent between 5 to 6 hours cumulatively searching, testing, positioning and adjusting the color and intensity of each light.
MY D5 RENDERING

I first placed the obvious lights inside and out. Then to showcase and intensify the volumes of my architecture, I placed some “studio” lights in certain strategic locations.
There are around 65 lights in total, including around fifteen “studio” lights which don’t correspond to any light source in reality.
STUDIO LIGHTS :

This is a job that takes a very long time to do for each light.

I think this idea could expand beyond copying the lighting of an image generated by an AI as I suggested in the title.
The idea could simply be to have an intelligent placement of various lights in the usual zones: interior of each room, plant zone, swimming pool, road… Perhaps by analysis of the model with AI, or manual indication of each zone perhaps.
With why not different presets, giving unique atmospheres. The lights, once generated in the scene, would have the possibility of being moved, modified or even deleted, like a classic and independent light.

It’s an ambitious project that is large in scale, I know !
But which in my opinion could provide valuable assistance to this tedious work of placing the lights. :hushed: :call_me_hand:

A first placement of lights could really make the difference! And could help us to be even more creative, simpler and faster.

Thanks for reading.
