In Lumion there is a function that when you enter the location, an external environment is automatically generated of where that location would be, even if it is just white blocks, but they kind of link the location of Google Maps and automatically generate that environment and then we just need to humanize it by adding vegetation, external blocks and other things.
I hope the D5 team disregards this and continue to focus on the rendering aspect of D5.
Outside of major major cities like New York, London, Los Angeles, ect… , all the open source maps (Lumion does not use Google as misstated above) lack accurate building and topography information. Not only that, but almost every 3D modeling platform already has plug-ins to import that same information in and then be able to edit it which you can not do in D5.
The fee to use the Google Earth information is astronomical and to get any actually useful data will cost D5 a fee to license. That fee would be passed down to the users and cause a cost increase. We do not want this.
Enscape added this feature years ago and by far it is one of the worst and useless features added to that program.
