1st discovery. Materials in max that have not been assigned any material are depicted as beautiful white in D5. The walls and ceiling in this first attached image reflect the bounced light from the floor beautifully.
2nd discovery. Complex materials don’t do well in D5. Notice the difference in the jacket rendered in D5 vs Max.
3rd ongoing problem with D5. Opacity maps in Max don’t automatically transfer in D5. One must manually add the D5 opacity map in the assets to the material and then track down all the appropriate maps. Then rotate the UV in the material…90 degrees or 270 degrees. But compare the two images with hair that used opacity hair maps. One in D5, the other in Max. No lighting was used in either render. The only light comes from the lily pad material in the well that is assigned emission. The max image uses
a screen sky that lights itself, nothing else. The D5 image uses custom night scene.
